About Pocket Network

Pocket Network is a decentralized data access protocol for Web3 applications, replacing fragile single-point RPC providers like Infura with a global network of independent nodes. Its core business: developers stake POKT tokens to obtain relay throughput, while node operators stake POKT to serve data requests and earn rewards—forming a circular economy.

Its main narrative evolved with the Shannon upgrade (June 2025), transforming from a blockchain-only RPC service into a general-purpose open data fabric. The network now relays not just blockchain data but also AI inference models, Web2 APIs, oracles, and indexers—positioning itself as infrastructure for the broader open data economy.

The market pain point it addresses is centralized infrastructure fragility: if a single RPC provider goes down, dApps stop working. Pocket's permissionless node network ensures high uptime, censorship resistance, and competitive pricing.

Recent development (Feb–Aug 2026): The v1.31 upgrade went live on February 10, 2026, a consensus-breaking change requiring validator coordination. Network activity surged—serving over 13.5 billion relays in April 2026 alone. However, the POKT token price has declined significantly, down approximately 99.74% from its all-time high, reflecting broader market conditions and high-risk status. Exchange suspensions of deposits/withdrawals during protocol upgrades were documented as routine operational caution, not distress signals.
